Welcome to my latest adventure...
The Polar Bear Challenge 2019-2020
Bude Seapool 1 miler!
Cornish Tipi Lake
Between November and March I will be an ‘aspiring Jedi Polar Bear’. This is my second year of Polar Bearing and I have been well and truly bitten by the bug!
What is a Jedi Polar Bear I hear you ask…well..to achieve this title I need to….swim 250 meters twice a month between 1st November and 31st March 2020 with a minimum monthly total of 3000 meters each month.
To top that off I also need to swim 10 specified swim as follows…
1500 Meters at 9 Degrees or less(December) 2000 Meters at 9 Degrees or less(December) 1250 Meters at 8 Degrees or less(January) 1750 Meters at 8 Degrees or less(January) 1000 Meters at 7 Degrees or less(January) 1500 Meters at 7 Degrees or less(December) 750 Meters at 6 Degrees or less(December) 1250 Meters at 6 Degrees or less(January) 500 Meters at 5 Degrees or less(February) 1000 Meters at 5 Degrees or less(February)
In order to achieve the above swims I need to complete all swims within the given time frame in open water (no added heat) wearing a normal swimming costume, goggles and swim cap!
There will be a number of Penguins taking part so we can keep each other company throughout the challenge. Penguins are allowed to wear wetsuits, gloves and insulated hats and need to swim a minimum of 200 meters twice a month.
Wish me well and I’ll see you at the end of each month to share my journey.
